It looks like we are having a rainy start to the spring, I hope that means that we will have a cooler summer this year.  Myself and the crew are looking forward to a little rest and then it’s back to work on all the trucks and equipment to get them ready to rock and roll come November.  We are adding a few more pieces of equipment this year, and we are very excited for the upcoming season to see what it has in store for us.  I hope everyone has a pleasant and relaxing summer and remember November is just around the corner.

___   Review the terms of your Snow Removal contract with your provider.

___  Is Snow Removal completed prior to the start / end of a shift? What types of deicers are being used?

___  Do we have buckets of salt located at each of the doorways?

___  Does maintenance have a schedule/system in place for dealing with intermittent snow fall during the course the day or night?

___  Does our maintenance staff have the proper tools and equipment necessary for the entire snow season?  Or will our provider be responsible to clear the walks, sidewalks and apply deicing materials?

___  Have we repaired problem areas from the last year that may have prevented proper water runoff/drainage?

___  Do we have benches at all doorways so that employees can change out of their Wet winter boots into Dry work shoes?

___  Have we blocked off potential “short cut” walking routes that may not be properly maintained?

___  Have we cleared all parking lot, and or walkway obstructions which may hinder total removal of snow and ice?

___  Have we reviewed our contract with our rug suppliers? Do we have sufficient and frequent rotation of rugs at all doorways?

___  Do we provide/encourage the use of proper footwear for employees who frequently travel or work outside?

___  Have we replaced all of the burnt out light bulbs at entrances and in the parking lot lighting?

___  Could we develop and incentive/reward program for a season free of slip and falls?

___  Do we have adequate signage, floor cleaning equipment and snow removal equipment located next to all doorways?

___  Do we have trained employees to increase awareness?  Have we developed a snow log to monitor/document regualr snow removal efforts?

Moonlight Snow Removal Joins National SnowCare for Troops Movement to Support Local Families again this Snow Season.

     Moonlight Snow Removal of Oakland County, MI joins the ranks with the SnowCare for Troops program, a new community-based program to provide free snow removal services for military families with a spouse or family member serving in the armed forces.  Moonlight Snow Removal will participate with snowplow and landscape professionals from across the country that donate their services and time to ease the burden on military families seeking help on the home front.  SnowCare for Troops ia a national program coordinated by Project EverGreen and underwritten by THE BOSS snowplow.

“We’re proud to support the SnowCare for Troops program and lend a hand to help our local military families who already carry so much on their shoulders, the last thing they should be worrying about is digging out after the next snowstorm,”  says Brian Bayley owner of Moonlight Snow Removal.  “This is just one small way that we can say thank you for their dedication to country and military service.”

     Along with the participation of Moonlight Snow Removal, there are many opportunities for the community to get involved, including loaning snow removal equipment to volunteers or groups, and donating money, transportation or gas cards to offset snow removal and maintenance costs.

     The SnowCare for Troops program joins the four-year program, GreenCare for Troops, managed by Project EverGreen that has already provided free lawn and landscape services to thousands of military families.  The program now has more than 10,000 military families in it’s database and is supported by nearly 3,000 green industry professionals and volunteers.
